From the Classroom to the Sales Floor: How PYD Students Thrived at Macy’s Retail Experience

At PYD, we believe the best way to prepare for the future is by providing meaningful opportunities in the present! In December, a group of enthusiastic participants from Learning Prep had the chance to step into the fast-paced world of retail during a hands-on learning experience at Macy’s.

The students took on a variety of responsibilities, gaining first hand insight into the operations of a major department store. From putting security tags on clothing to unboxing and hanging items, they quickly learned the importance of precision and teamwork in maintaining an organized inventory.

Their efforts didn’t stop there! On the sales floor, they helped fold and organize displays, ensuring a polished presentation for customers. Some students even assisted shoppers, demonstrating their growing confidence and interpersonal skills.

This opportunity not only allowed our students to explore potential career paths but also helped them develop valuable skills, such as communication, attention to detail, and adaptability.

We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and grateful to Macy’s for opening their doors and sharing this wonderful experience.

Programs like these show the power of experiential learning. By stepping into real-world scenarios, our students gain knowledge, build confidence, and prepare for the future.
