Celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month with PYD’s Career Readiness Fashion Show at Macy’s!

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD) partnered with Macy’s for a truly inspiring Career Readiness Fashion Show. Held to honor the achievements of young people with disabilities, this event highlighted the critical role that inclusive employment and community support play in building a more accessible and equitable future.

The Career Readiness Fashion Show allowed young people from PYD’s programs to step into the spotlight, showcasing both their professional attire and their confidence, skills, and personalities cultivated through PYD’s Career Readiness initiative. This program prepares young individuals with disabilities for success in the workplace by developing skills that range from resume building to networking and self-advocacy. With Macy’s generous support, we were able to shine a light on their remarkable journeys and accomplishments.

Macy’s has been a proud supporter of PYD, empowering our mission of inclusion and opportunity.  As Tere Ramos, PYD Executive Director explains, “the collaboration between Macy’s and PYD is about more than just fashion; it’s about creating a platform where youth with disabilities can confidently express their unique identities and career ambitions. By supporting events like these, Macy’s is helping to foster an inclusive future where everyone, regardless of ability, has a place in the professional world.”

Thanks to Macy’s and our supporters, PYD is able to continue providing these essential experiences that foster both personal and professional growth.
